Booking the 'right' band.. for your special
occasion is never going to be easy.. You have so much choice and
so little time for an in-depth quality search.. so here are a few
pointers which we think might help..
* Experienced bands' have much more to offer you
and your party guests.
They will have the right kind of music to
suit all the party age ranges.. and by choosing a' local band' they
will save you money on their travel costs too.
*Bands are inveriably booked on a first-come,
first-serve basis. First with an early cleared deposit cheque wins the
spoils.. "Quid.. Pro.. Quo.."
*Always ask for a free copy of a recent CD (or
listen to the up-to-date music files). Also ask.. "Is the recording
a genuine ' LIVE' version performed in front of an live audience?"
Listening to a studio-made, perfect CD in the comfort of your own
home will never capture the dynamic whoosh, or the fantastic effects
that a real live party-show-band always generates.
*Most bands will offer a free CD player, hooked-up
through the PA system for lighter moods, early reception, meal times
and buffets..
*Up to 2 hours + playing time is normal for Something Catchy but
where this needs to be extended for a late bar etc, then the band
will help you plan your entire evening accordingly, making sure
it will be a great success..
*Appropriateness." Will the band deliver
the kind of music you have in mind for your special day..?" For instance..will the.. Downtown-Mississippi-Underwater-Cajun-Jug-Thumpers play all of Shania
Twain's latest hits..!! Are you catching my drift?"
Please remember.. you are booking a 'Party Band'.. Not a rock concert.
* Fee's.. Mmmm.. tricky one this. Live band prices
vary from thousands to hundreds of £s. Stick to your budget
and shop around for competative prices. Remember, the first figure
you are offered is just a starting price. Negotiate to the figure
you are most comfortable with. But do remember these musicians are
working for your ultimate enjoyment. They provide your occasion
with sound rigs and lighting systems (sometimes) and sophisticated
equipment costing many thousands of £s.. In addition, they
are spending their entire evening at your venue plus some traveling
time.. All of this has to be paid for..
* Bands working out of Musical Agencies have
to pay back a percentage for the work they are given. This might
cost you more.. or even less than you originally thought.
And finally.. We would never let you book 'Something Catchy' until you are totally and absolutely convinced
that we are the right band for you and your occasion. So that means
you'll need to see us live and in action first. But before that..
